Cytiva earned a “Gold” rating from a complex assessment of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. The Gold rating from EcoVadis demonstrates the depth of Cytiva’s sustainability commitment, is an improvement over last year’s rating, and reflects the work of the global organization.

EcoVadis is a trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, intelligence and collaborative performance improvement tools for global supply chains. Cytiva is now in the top 5% of all rated companies.

Gold sustainability rating for corporate social responsibility

Cecilia Sjöstedt, General Manager of Cytiva Sweden says: “Third party sustainability rankings such as EcoVadis are becoming a requirement for our business partners seeking assurance we live up to increasingly high sustainability demands. I’m proud to see that we now have the gold-rating and know where to keep improving.”

This assessment isn’t easy or quick to complete. Organizations evaluate their own and their supply chain’s CSR levels. The assessment requires proof of implementation of all policies, procedures, KPIs and reporting across four main areas: Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.

Besides improving the rating from Silver to Gold overall, scores improved in each category: Environment up 10 points, Labor & Human Rights up 10 points, Ethics up 10 points, and Sustainable Procurement up 20 points.

Some of the key areas of improvement are:

  • Joining the UN Global Compact in January 2021, as its ten principles help us make sure Cytiva is grounded on the highest standards of integrity.
  • Publishing Cytiva’s first sustainability report in June 2021 charting the direction to 2023 and disclosing efforts in 2020.
  • Implementing an EcoVadis assessment program for more than 130 selected suppliers, and
  • Improving documentation of several policies and procedures already in place.

Nicolas Roux, Direct Sourcing Leader says: ”Our suppliers have a massive impact on our own sustainability performance – as such, we’re now considering sustainability as a key differentiator in our supplier selection process and business allocation decisions. Leveraging EcoVadis has allowed us to develop a data driven approach to the subject and help build a multiple year continuous improvement roadmap aligned with Cytiva’s and Cytiva’s customer sustainability objectives.”
